Timeline Highlights 

1976-1996

  • First vocal performance in school production as Jud Frye in Oklahoma age 12.

  • 1977: age 13 begins study with Elliot Dorfman at "The American Youth Repertory" in Manhattan. 

  • 1980: first Carnegie recital at Del Terzo Recital Studio in Carnegie Hall at age 16.

  • 1981: age 17 at Carnegie Hall -Weill Recital Studio performs a concert of Broadway songs and operettas

  • 1984: marriage at an early age, puts music on hold, works at a series of odd jobs to support his family.

  • 1989: returns to producing his own concerts with ensemble of singers & musicians: "Broadway Magic."

  • 1995: joins NYPD, sings National Anthem, Madison Square Garden, 1996 academy graduation. (see at Video)

2001

  • May: subject of CNN special by Jeanne Moos, highlighting his life and career. (see at Video) \

  • May 15: Capitol Hill - performs at National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service 

  • Sept. 23: National Anthem at "Prayer for America" in Yankee Stadium, tribute to the lost at 9-11.

  • Sept. 25: "America The Beautiful"  7th inning, 1st regular season game at Yankee stadium after 9-11.

  • October: opening of Carnegie Hall's 111th season: with the Berlin Philharmonic, tribute to 9-11.

  • October: "Good Morning America" with Diane Sawyer and Charles Gibson.

  • October: The Late Show with David Letterman, performs "God Bless America"

  • October 28:  National Anthem at site of World trade center during memorial service.

  • October 30:  "God Bless America" - 7th inning stretch, game 3 first World Series in NY after 9-11. (see at Video)

  • October: signs recording contract with EMI Records for a single, plus two full  albums.

  • November: Macy's Thanksgiving Parade New York City

  • December 11: NBC Today Show performance as tribute for those lost Sept 11.

  • December: Release of "God Bless America" CD, with profits given to victims of 9-11.

2002

  • February 8: "God Bless America " at Winter Olympics Salt Lake City Utah. (see at Video)

  • March 3: Ford's Theater Washington DC hosted by President and Mrs. Bush.

  • March: "Spirit of America" CD release goes to #1 Billboards Classical Crossover chart.

  • March: Began study with Placido Domingo at the Vilar Young Artists Institute, Washington DC.

  • March:  "The Lord's Prayer" on the Oprah Winfrey Show interview. (see at Video)

  • April 28: Debut at Crystal Cathedral "God Bless America," Interview with Dr. Schuller, and "The Lord's Prayer"

  • May 15: Capitol Hill - performs at National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service 

  • May: Performs 2 songs at National Memorial Day concert in Washington DC. filmed for PBS.

  • June 13: first public concert with full orchestra at Heinz Hall with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

  • June: "Be My Love" at Carnegie Hall to standing ovation, Skitch Henderson conducts.

  • June: CBS spotlights study with Placido Domingo, by Tom Bergeron, Jane Clayson, Thalia Assuras. (see at Opera)

  • July: Receives Special honor award from Disneyland, first time ever given to a non-cast member.

  • Sept. 11: NBC Today, Concert U.S. Capitol, Opening stock market, Madison Square Garden "Tribute to Grace & Hope"; Yankee Stadium, Evening concert Liberty Park, Jersey City, NJ.

  • September: first Tunnel to Towers/Stephen Siller 5k run, New York City

2003

  • February: Solo concert with tribute to the late tenor Mario Lanza - Expo Center, York PA.

  • February: Release of second album "From My Heart"

  • May: with Paula Zahn, Pat Sajak. along with the Pittsburgh Symphony at Heinz Hall tribute to Fred Rogers.

  • May: Receives the 1st Raul Julia Award for making a difference in the lives of families they serve.

  • May: Records "On This Day" for National Moment of Remembrance" with the U.S. Coast Guard Band.

  • May:  National Anthem at the Indy 500 Indianapolis.

  • June:  Redlands Summer Music Festival, Redlands Bowl, CA

  • September: Des & Mel British TV show: interview & performance of "Be My Love"

  • September: In concert Highland Park Ill. annual Ravinia Music Festival

 

2004

  • January: Tournament of Roses Parade on city of Torrance float, sings "God Bless America"

  • March: records "Starting Now" written by Lee Holdridge for trailer film - Puerto Vallarta Squeeze

  • March: First international concert tour in New Zealand.

  • June: Retires from New York City Police Department to pursue music full time.

  • June: Records track for "Yuletide Celebration" CD for Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra

  • August: Sings "Amazing Grace" Republican National Convention, MSG New York. (see at Video)

  • November: performs in Monaco for the Royal family and in memorial for Princess Grace.

  • December: host Indianapolis Symphony Yuletide series, Jack Everly principal pops conductor. 

 

2005

  • January: Celebration of Freedom Inauguration concert in Washington DC.

  • March: Begins personal project "Songs for the Soldiers" appearances to raise funds for CD donations.

  • April: memorial mass tribute for HSH Prince Rainier III St. Patrick's Cathedral New York City.

  • May: Sings at the 17th annual Candlelight Vigil during National Law Enforcement week, Washington DC.

  • June: releases third full length album "In The Presence" with Blix Street Records.

  • June : opens United States Official National Day ceremony at World Expo at US Pavillion in Aichi Japan.

  • September: records "Into The Fire" at West Point Chapel, for "Stand Ye Steady" CD/DVD.

  • December: host of inaugural production of Holiday Spectacular, Meyerhoff Concert Hall, Baltimore MD.

 

2006

  • May: Featured interview/performances WOR radio "Celebrate America" Hofstra  University 

  • May: Performs at nationally televised Memorial day concert performance in Washington. (see at Video)

  • June: Debut - first full opera - lead tenor role in Pagliacci, Chelsea Opera Company, New York.

  • September: Tonight Show with Jay Leno, sings "Amazing Grace" with Mike Garson on keyboard. (see at Video)

  • December: 1st. concert tour Netherlands Hour of Power, with orchestra and choir.

 

2007

  • March: Receives USO Lifetime Achievement Award for his tireless support.

  • May: "Best performance 2007 season" by Operaonline in Pagliacci, NH Granite State Opera.

  • June: Concert at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington D.C.

  • June: Receives Continental  Congress Medal for Patriotism, DAR Constitution Hall Washington D.C. (see at Honors)

  • October: Return to New Zealand for "The Amazing Grace" concert tour.

  • November: Release of international version of "In The Presence."

  • December: 2nd concert tour Netherlands Hour of Power.

 

2008

  • March: interview Telecare TV "God Squad" with Rabbi Michael Gelman & Father Tom Hartman. 

  • April: returns for 3rd tour in New Zealand.

  • June 28: performs as Turridu with Opera of the Hamptons.

  • Aug:  Sings "Star Spangled Banner" Indianapolis Speedway. (See at Video)

  • December: 3rd international concert tour Netherlands Hour of Power, with orchestra and choir.

 

2009

  • March: 4th tour New Zealand in Tribute to Mario Lanza "Legendary Lanza"  concert series.

  • September: Begins the USA tour traveling across America, performing in over 117 concerts.

  • November: "I Believe" recorded Live on stage in the Netherlands is released in the U.S.

  • December: sings at rally against bringing the KSM terrorists to New York for trials.

  • December: returns to the Netherlands for 4th consecutive concert tour.

 

2010

  • February: receives SAR Medal of Good Citizenship from Sacramento County.

  • May: completes 117 city 9 month USA tour.

  • July: performs at Queenstown Winter Festival during 5th New Zealand tour.

  • August: Rally in New York City against the building of a mosque near Ground Zero.

 

2011

  • March: Performs "Vesti la giubba" at Placido Domingo Gala, Straz Center, Tampa Florida.

  • May: 6th return to The Netherlands concert tour in Goes, Arnhem and Rotterdam.

  • May: Performs at National Memorial Day Concert at White House, Washington DC

  • August: Debut of "The New York Tenors" in John Burns Park, Long Island NY.

  • November: concert tour in The Netherlands.

 

2012

  • March: Madison Square Garden National Anthem for Big East men's basketball semi-finals.

  • September: Celebration of Freedom concert with US Air Force Band of Flight, Hobart Arena Troy Ohio

  • June: Chelsea Opera lead tenor Puccini's Madama Butterfly. 

  • September:  Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, aboard the USS Missouri.

  • September: Begins 2012-2013 USA tour.

  • December: Sold out Carnegie Hall Christmas concert with the New York Tenors.

 

2013

  • March: Guest appearance on "Idol Across America" kick off New York City.

  • April: Receives Humanitarian Award at the historic Flushing House Town Hall awards ceremony.

  • June: First Spanish album "Por Ti Volare" released.

  • September: Travels to Kandahar, Afghanistan to pay tribute to the U.S. troops.

  • November: Returns to The Netherlands for 8th concert tour.

  • December: Carnegie Hall Christmas concert with the New York Tenors.

 

2014

  • January: Phoenix AZ with the 9-11 "Never Forget" mobile exhibit museum

  • January: Performance at "Travis-a Soldier's Story" documentary film screening in Times Square.

  • March: Announces first Christmas album to be released in 2014.

  • July: "The New York Tenors" return in concert on Long Island, New York

  • September: Appearance in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, memorial ceremony.

  • October: Release of Christmas album "A Glorious Christmas"

  • November: New York City Veterans Day concert and parade

 

2015

  • January: NFF leadership Hall of Fame Dinner. Signs a 4 year contact for future appearances.

  • March: Returns to New Zealand for 6th concert tour, including performance at US Embassy, Wellington. 

  • April-May: 3 performances at Madison Square Garden for the NY Rangers NHL playoffs.

  • August: Allentown Bands 100th anniversary of appearances, Waldheim Park, Allentown, PA.

2016
